This next week we will be observing Veteran’s Day at the Roosevelt Elementary. Our program will start at 8:30 as the members of the Cherokee Veteran’s Color Guard will help raise our American Flag as we recite the Pledge of Allegiance. We will then move into the gym where we will hear from our speaker, Carlos Kirby. Mr. Kirby is a famous Iowan who not only was an Olympian but also a Veteran. We are all looking forward to his inspirational presentation. The students will also be singing during the program.
Having programs like this encourage our students to become citizens of our community and of our country. It gives the students a chance to see our local Veteran’s and pay respect to the men and women who have stood together to provide all of us with the freedoms we enjoy in the United States of America.
